Mechanical Engineering Lead

Position Responsibilities: q, t9 c( l4 X: U! {8 W. z
Design of complex electro-mechanical assemblies & systems including aluminum chassis design, heatsink design, PCB packaging Perform thermal and strength FEA analysis and prepare reports on results Perform laboratory verification testing of electro-mechanical assemblies, including vibration, shock, and thermal testing Create production drawings for machined parts, plastic injection molded parts, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical sub-assemblies, PCB fabrication, PCB assemblies and associated parts lists Management of the mechanical engineering functions to facilitate the design, integration, verification, and production transfer of avionics hardware.( ?/ v" K D% y4 I; P
Work with program management to develops cost and schedule baselines and targets and to ensure programs are staffed with the appropriate engineering personnel
$ z" A/ p7 i- w0 HEnsure all designs meet both internal and customer requirements and design standards.9 B/ l+ i8 w, ?" k5 _# {8 T
Identify issues and risks, develop corresponding mitigation/action plans, and track to closure
6 q9 j! g! H" a* W7 F9 X8 q. QProvide guidance and direction to the mechanical engineering personnel
1 W' J8 K \. W( X: k6 wWork with the sales team to develop engineering input to proposals including technical, cost, schedule, and risk definition to meet customer needs.
* s( u" x9 V: QCoaching, mentoring, and development of engineering personnel including training, performance evaluation reviews, and hiring/termination recommendations

Essential Skills and Experience) Y0 x1 M% e7 u; }* a# W
15 - 20 Years of aerospace electro-mechanical design and development experience including knowledge of electronics mechanical design practices and procedures 3 O; ?! V, B% c8 w$ a! y( a
Knowledge of IPC Standards for the design and manufacturing of electronics assemblies.5 \4 W. c1 ?0 ]7 A- ^
Knowledge of ASME Y14.100-2000 & Y14.5-1994 drawing requirements.. _7 D+ d* x) x+ Y( Z/ L
Knowledge of industry & military specifications for materials, parts, and processes.
5 i" |$ v A- U! |Knowledge of various fabrication and assembly processes, including metal/plastics machining, plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication processes, brazing, welding, printed circuit board fabrication, printed circuit board assembly, and printed circuit board rework processes.
6 @4 f% z$ g' {- mTechnical knowledge of Electronics Packaging, Printed Wiring Board Layouts, Thermal Analysis, Strength Analysis

$ T; m! P. a2 F- `2 _( |. P' T! eWorking knowledge mechanical design and simulation tools such as PADS, AutoCAD, Cosmos Design Star, AutoDesk Mechanical Simulation
# Z5 R: g4 z+ @ t( C) A+ Q3 bExperience with Microsoft Office including Word Excel, Powerpoint and Project: G7 c t" g; w0 v- ~, G# ^. P
Familiarity with Root Cause and Corrective Action methodologies& `7 {/ O( P! n
Previous experience in RTCA/DO-160 processes and FAA Certification
